If promotional or convention modeling is the type of job you would love to have, there are a few things you may need to do to get started. It is important to remember that you should be in good physical shape and take care of your appearance. Most conventions want to hire beautiful women who make will their products stand out and excite those who come out to see them.

Although taking care of your appearance is important, your physical appearance is not the only thing you should be able to offer. In fact, if you want to do promotional or convention modeling, you should have a friendly personality and a great sense of humor.

During a convention, people may ask to take pictures with you. It would be your job to smile politely at the guests and offer to take pictures with anyone who wants them. If you have a bad personality, it can ruin the convention. And, people may end up less interested in the products you are working on promoting.

If you feel like you are a great fit for this type of position, it would be wise to have some professional photographs taken of you. Recruiters for these promotional events and conventions often want to see what the women look like ahead of time to determine whether they should select them or not. Instead of your own personal pictures, hire a photographer who has experience taking headshots.

Add your pictures to your portfolio, along with a detailed resume. Even if you have only done a few promotional modeling events in the past, it would still be worth mentioning it in your resume, especially if you are trying to land gigs that are even better.

When you have a portfolio with plenty of pictures and a decent resume, you can start applying for modeling positions that are offered in the local area. Depending on the city in which you live, there may be car show conventions and other types of promotional events revolving around clothes, beauty products and even food.

Apply for as many as possible. If you do not hear back right away, you could always contact the hiring manager to find out if they would be interested in hiring you for the promotional job. They may ask you to come in for an interview. As long as you are confident, kind and friendly, you should be able to leave a good impression and get hired.

You may not get chosen for all promotional or convention modeling jobs available. However, if you apply to several of them, there is a better chance that you will hear something back from at least one of them. As you gain more experience, landing such gigs should come easily for you.
